Arrival of a Sentence

Chapter 1 from Hun’s Corner

War in Limbo

During the War of Limbo, the City sought a Faustian bargain to trade off England’s Prosperity in return for knighthoods and bonuses. They did not accept that the new Kingdom of England dedicated to the rightful Monarch would replace the old one. And so a court dispatched a courier with a sentence to be delivered at the PO box used by the English Chancellery when dealing with City affairs.

Castle and English Flag

Return to Sender

The Chancellery had a policy of returning unwanted mail to the sender, and the following is one such example which occurred when the sentence arrived. It was sent back with the appropriate corrections and annotations.

The script inserted in the sentence between parentheses and in bold italics is the Hun’s.

I have read the depositions and the exhibits in this case, and I am satisfied that you knew what you did and that you did it intentionally and deliberately after you had received warning from more than one of (Who, Zombie & Zombie?) that the course you were pursuing amounted to high treason. They called you a traitor and you heard them; but in spite of that you continued in that course. You now stand a self-confessed traitor to (Who, Humpty Dumpty?) and country (What country, ‘the UK’?) and you have forfeited your right to live.

(Amen!)

(Seen, corrected and signed by the Hun, official postmaster at the Ænglisc Rīce Chancellery, and returned to sender.

Date: Anno I: 1st September 2019 – 31st August 2020.

Hail Britannia!)

Introduction to Hun’s Corner

Hun’s Corner is dedicated to publishing war tales. Permission has been granted by the English Chancellery for this series of chapters to go ahead, and I stand up to – and take full credit for – any grief it may cause for whomsoever. Seeing these pages entitles the reader to their own thoughts, whether it be for satisfaction or otherwise.

It will be to the discretion of the reader to contemplate upon the content and choose how to envisage the meaning of that which is presented …

Our next page in the series: The Ardennes Offensive.
